Best Bridal Makeup Artist Northern Ireland

by Stacey 20. November 2013 12:54

Eek...it's me!

WOW! I am totally loving and so proud of my new title awarded at the recent Getting Married in Northern Ireland Reader Awards.

It is a huge achievement for me and I cannot thank all my brides enough as it is you who voted me to the top! I'm so pleased you have been happy with my service as I strive to help make your day perfect in any way I can.

Although I did makeup for my first bride 12 years ago - yes I am that old - it was only 4 years ago I was able to train and become a Professional Makeup Artist. In those 4 years I have been so lucky to have reached many of my goals already and constantly set myself new ones. I have been crowned Irish Makeup Artist of the Year, came third in the worldwide Illamasqua Distinction in Makeup Artistry Awards, met my idols Alex Box and Pixiwoo, assisted top London Makeup Artist Jo Adams at the MTV EMAs in Belfast and had my work published and viewed by thousands of people across the world!

It is just incredible to do what I love every single day and more so to be recognised for my hard work and dedication!

Watch this space as I hope 2014 has more more great things in store.

Keep up to date with all things makeup and previews of my brides on Facebook

Vote s.a.k.DESIGNS Bridal Makeup Artist of the Year!

by Stacey 12. August 2013 21:15

The time has come to cast your vote for who you consider to be Northern Ireland's Bridal Makeup Artist of the Year! Getting Married in Northern Ireland magazine introduced this exciting new category last year and I was shocked and so excited to have been placed second! Thank you SO SO much for voting!

Could I make it to first place this year (or is that being greedy?!)?

If you are a s.a.k bride and were happy with the service I provided on the lead up and morning of your wedding I would really really appreciate your vote! Likewise if you are a future bride and want to cast your vote that would be amazing. I can't win this one without your support

I have been really lucky in my makeup career to date having been placed second and third in some pretty amazing and high profile competitions! And in October 2012 I won my current title of IRISH MAKEUP ARTIST OF THE YEAR! I love competiting in live competitions as it is solely about being judged on my ability by industry leaders and I don't need to pester you lol. But if you have a wee second to spare and like what I do your vote could help me get to the top this year

If you want to share the link it's: www.readerawards.co.uk/vote.html Kiss

Thank you all the muches!!!

Face Painting Training - Belfast, Northern Ireland

by Stacey 18. April 2013 19:55

Due to demand we have a new date for our next face painting workshop

Sunday 16th June 2013

10.15am - 3.45pm

Belvoir Activity Centre, Belfast

Face painting is a very rewarding artform whether you choose to have it as a hobby or invest in it as a business. I started face painting ten years ago with little / no guidance except for a book...I call it learning the hard way! It wasn't until I met 'real' face painters through FACE a number of years later that I was able to improve on my skills and learn some of the basics and tricks I wish I had known from the start.

This workshop will cover all the basics including health & safety and the key skills to give you a good grounding to enter the industry and the knowledge to perfect your skills through practice and experimentation.

Download the flyer for more information and give me a call to book your place!

Face Painting Workshop Flyer - June 2013.pdf (219.79 kb)

"I couldn't recommend this workshop highly enough!!! It was an absolutely fantastic day packed with very important information and advice which has helped to give me a firm grasp of health & safety, a good solid foundation by improving basic vital skills needed in every face design and also it has helped me grow more in confidence and to believe I can be a much better painter giving my clients the best that I can" Joanne Wilson

Look forward to sharing my skills and knowledge with you!

Wedding Makeup Northern Ireland

by Stacey 12. April 2013 21:16

I feel really honoured and priviledged to be part of so many weddings every year. To be hand picked from the many makeup artists throughout the province is heartwarming and I love to put my all into creating your perfect bridal look.

I am often asked "do you enjoy what you do?" "is bridal makeup not boring?" The answer is yes and no; yes I love what I do...the day I stop loving what I do is the day I will stop as I want to be as enthusiastic about your wedding as you and ensure I help create perfect memories. The no relates to weddings and boring - the two words don't belong in the same sentence! I am one of very few people to share the nerves, the giggles and the tears in the bridal household, to offer advice and guidance and my bottle of rescue remedy. Every wedding is unique because it is created to suit the couple and I love seeing all the little details and of course the amazing dresses that my work will compliment!

If you have been a s.a.k. bride it would be lovely to see your photos and share these with potential brides!

A special thanks to Grace & Lindsay and their amazing photographer Ten21 Photography for sending through this stunning image.

If you'd like to check availabiliy or get a quotation please call 07738090660 or email info@sakdesigns.co.uk, I offer a one wedding per day policy to devote my time to you and your bridal party. Bridal packages start from £110 including a trial for the bride 4 weeks prior to the wedding and false lashes.

Jessica's bridal debut

by Stacey 10. February 2013 20:50

At this time of year I love setting aside some time to work on new images. Shoots like this don't just happen, there's a lot of behind the scenes organising and everyone works so hard on the day to create what you see.

I feel this blog post can pretty much talk for itself so less of me and more breathtaking images.

Most importantly please take a few moments to meet the creative team that made this possible and enjoy our vision of romance meets 1920s elegance.

Face Painting | Makeup | Northern Ireland

by Stacey 4. October 2012 20:30

Yes, this is my new, very exciting title having competed at the Professional Beauty Show in Dublin on Monday! To say I am delighted is a major understatement - I am ecstatic!

I have worked very hard for this...

I chose to enter the Catwalk and Fashion makeup category where the theme was ‘Tokyo Bright Despair’. I designed storyboards, which I have attached, pulling together my inspiration and created a look that was my take on a Japanese Geisha and samurai warrior. We were told in the brief to think cute and ugly, pretty and grotesque so my interpretation had lots of colour based on Tokyo city lights at night but with a darker edge.

Here is my winning look on the amazing model Piya

I would like to thank the judges for seeing my potential and presenting me with the coveted title! A massive thank you also to the sponsors for all my fantastic prizes: Kett Cosmetics, Face FX, Stargazer, Nima Brush and Karaja!

Judge, Nichola Graham (pictured above) sent this really lovely message to me following the competition "Your win is so well deserved! Your interpretation and execution of the theme blew the judges away! The world is your oyster for sure."

What an amazing experience!!!...

Now to set some even more challenging and exciting goals!

Bridal Makeup Northern Ireland

by Stacey 15. January 2012 12:04

2011 was an amazing year! If you follow my work on Facebook you will have read some of my highlights including coming 3rd in cult makeup brand Illamasqua's Distinction in Makeup Artistry Awards having competed against makeup artists from across the world, working backstage at the MTV EMAs and coming second in the Oonagh Boman Makeup Excellence Awards! Not forgetting of course the most precious highlight of all...the arrival of my son Riley! It was a crazy busy year, we now have a team of four children's entertainers and bookings more than doubled the previous year. So thank you massively for all your support!

Starting 2012 I have five times more bridal bookings in my diary than 2011! So I'm writing this little blog post to highlight my availability for weddings is limited. I operate a one wedding per day policy and book my time exclusively for each bride so you have the undivided time and attention you deserve on your special day.

A new year's resolution for 2012 is to get more photos of my real life brides but here are a few samples...

I am really looking forward to meeting and working with all my 2012 brides! Any previous brides (or indeed wedding photographers of my previous brides!) who would be so kind as to share a wedding picture please email info@sakdesigns.co.uk

If you wish to check availability for your wedding date please do not hesitate to get in touch! 2013 and 2014 diaries are also available for booking.

Mentioning New Year's Resolutions...I also aim to update my website and blog more often. There are lots of exciting images being added to my website this very minute but Facebook is always a good way to keep up to date with our work.

Face Painting | Northern Ireland

by Stacey 7. October 2011 12:36

On Saturday 15th October I was the only makeup artist from Northern Ireland to compete in the live finals of the Illamasqua Distinction in Makeup Artistry Awards in London. My work was judged by some of the world's makeup greats including Alex Box and Sam from Pixiwoo!
The final looks have now gone out to public vote on Facebook which will represent 50% of the final score. I would love love love it if you could vote for me and encourage anyone you know to do so too. I actually do not like public voting as it becomes more of a popularity competition rather than about the artwork but the judges vote has a good influence over the final decision so I'm just trying to gain as much support from the public as possible to keep me near the top of that - I think I need to be second at least in the public vote to stand a chance.
If you would like to vote please click on the link below and click the like button beside my image. I am contestant no.2; Lady V, inspired by venetian masks my makeup actually glows under UV light although the image does not show this.
It would be great and really lovely if you only voted for me as lots of my friends are voting for several in my category which as lovely as it is for for other competitors it defeats the purpose of me trying to get unique votes! (Goodness that sounds mean!) Please click like on my image and not the main album.

Thank you so much for your continued support! If you can help promote this in anyway that would be amazing!

My original look that secured my place in the final

(pictures taken by Elaine Hill)

The competition brief was to develop my above fantasy design incorporating four of Illamasqua's new collection Theatre of the Nameless products. My inspiration is below and mainly comes from venetian masks and luxurious fabrics.

My final look glows just like my initial image above but the competition image does not show this.

Precision Hairdressing Magheralin: launch night

by Stacey 31. July 2011 16:43

I was delighted to be asked by the girls at Precision Hairdressing in Magheralin to take part in their exclusive launch evening on Friday night!

The day kicked off with a bit of girlie fun and pampering as Ruth and her team got all glammed up to meet and greet their clients. This was soon followed by prepping the models...Kayle wore a bridal look which I kept very natural while Deirdre had a formal look so I introduced some fresh corals and pinks both on the eyes and cheeks.

Just before everyone arrived I got to work on the star of the show: Willy Wonka! Lisa the fab model was just perfect for this look, she is SO much fun and can totally get into character! Sonya, one of the stylists at the salon, not only created Willy Wonka's amazing hair but also all the props - including the gigantic chocolate bar (not real much to my disappointment!)

On arrival guests were greeted with chocolates and pink lemonade!

The evening started with hair and makeup demos. First I created a day look on model Gemma with her funky pink hair - one of the salon's more creative colour clients! For this look I wanted to showcase how beautiful, flawless makeup can be achieved in 10 minutes max! To create the look I used my fav products from Senna Cosmetics: mineral powder foundation, cream blusher in Daydream, duo powder blusher in Sunshine to add definition and highlight the cheekbones, Satin Doll tri eyeshadow a little black liner and mascara, Light Taupe pencil to define the eyebrows and to finish a gorgeous sheer pink lipstick, Teardrop, was applied to the lips.

Next I created an evening look on Zola. As a base I used Illamasqua's new Skin Base foundation set with translucent powder, teamed with Bobbi Brown shimmer brick to define the cheekbones. Tones of white, grey and black were used on the eye and finished off with black eye liner, lots of mascara, false lashes and some amazingly bling sparkles! The look was made complete by defining the eyebrow using Senna Form-A-Brow and then a nude lipstick, Myth by MAC to finish.

Ruth and Sarah finished off the hair while Sonya explained the process and answered questions...

The evening was brought to a close with some scrummies.

See more in the next edition of the Ulster Tatler! (And don't forget to visit this beautiful salon next time your hair needs some TLC!)

A first for Northern Ireland!

by Stacey 19. July 2011 22:54

Baby bump painting is a new craze for mums to be in Northern Ireland!

Inspired by face painters across the world I am the first person to introduce the art of bump painting in Northern Ireland! This is a unique and special experience to capture such a precious time and to be able to share with your child in years to come. It is best to paint bumps after you have reached 34 weeks. Each bump is designed specifically for you incorporating all those little aspects that make your pregnancy special.

Living the dream!

by Stacey 18. July 2011 21:08

Oonagh Boman Makeup Excellence Awards 2011

As a graduate of the Oonagh Boman School of Makeup, this year I was eligible to enter the Makeup Excellence Awards and totally jumped at the chance!

The competition deadline just so happened to be on the day my first little baby was due so to say I jumped in feet first was an understatement! I always like to keep myself busy but perhaps completing my portfolio just hours after my waters broke was a step too far?!?! I'm so glad I did though as I was shortlisted as a finalist and found out at a glitzy press launch at The Ivory restaurant in Belfast.

As one of six finalists I was given the theme NEW ROMANTICS and had to prepare a storyboard and do a live makeup infront of the judging panel which included fashion photographer Jim Crone and Style Academy director Tracey Hall. I went into slight panic mode as this competition meant a lot to me and I wanted to do so well. My research took me through the 80s looking at icons such as Steve Strange and Boy George and drawing inspiration from the Blitz club in London. I was very excited as I started to create my look. I chose a male model to fit within the theme, quite a bold move considering the other finalists all had females, but I think it worked! My model Kit was AMAZING - he totally did my makeup proud! It was such an enjoyable day and I realised why I love my job...I LOVE being creative and being surrounded by such talented people! A massive thanks must go out to Elaine Hill who joined us after the competition for a half hour shoot to capture my work!

On 4th July I attended a gala evening in The Ivory with family and friends when the winner was announced by Eugenia Weston founder of the fantastically beautiful Senna Cosmetics. All I can say is wowsers - what a show! The makeup and styling in the fashion show was outstanding and the food was delish! My nerves didn't allow my to eat my sticky toffee pudding though so I am on a mission to return for my pudding!

The awards were presented by none other than Julian Simmons who called each finalist up on stage for a mini interview before the winner was unveiled...mmm...I am not good at being put on the spot! It was one of those moments when you knew you were talking, hoped it made sense and got off stage with a hundred and one better answers!

ANYWAY!...In what was described as a very tough competition by the judging panel, I'm so delighted I was placed joint Highly Commended (2nd place!) and was presented with a stunning bouquet of flowers from Oonagh, Julian and Eugenia!

Now onto the next competition...I'm a little addicted!

Oh and here's a little pic of baby Riley who arrived in the middle of everything!
